Similar와 Analogous 차이

Similar와 Analogous 모두 '유사한'이라고 번역하지만 의미는 조금 다르다.

Analogous는 다음 예와 같이 2개가 서로 대응하는 관계에 있는 것이다.

The heart is analogous to a pump.

Sleep has often been thought of as being in some way analogous to death.

Similar는 다음 예와 같이 2개가 크기나 모양 등이 비슷한 특성을 가지는 것이다.

The two houses are similar in size.

The scene in the picture was eerily similar to what I had seen in my dream.
