MII 란?

MII (Media-Independent Interface)는 MAC과 PHY 칩을 연결하는 인터페이스 표준이다. IEEE 802.3u으로 표준화 되어 있다. MII는 '엠아이아이'라고 읽는다.

 

MII을 사용하면 PHY가 변해도 MAC은 바꾸지 않아도 된다.

 

 

MII는 속도를 높이고 신호선을 줄인 다음과 같은 다양한 버전이 있다.

• Reduced media-independent interface (RMII)
• Gigabit media-independent interface (GMII)
• Reduced gigabit media-independent interface (RGMII)
• Serial media-independent interface (SMII)
• Serial gigabit media-independent interface (serial GMII, SGMII)
• High serial gigabit media-independent interface (HSGMII)
• Quad serial gigabit media-independent interface (QSGMII)
• 10-gigabit media-independent interface (XGMII)

 

다음 회로에서 Ethernet PHY 칩(DP83843)과 MAC 칩사이는 MII으로 연결된다.
